Looma's founders with their two young daughters

HOW IT BEGAN

A different way to play

Looma began the same way most small businesses do: we couldn't find the specific toy we were looking for.

When our twin girls were six months old, animals were a major obsession. Hours of picture books and "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" on repeat. The natural next step was a miniature animal set. But almost everything we found was cheap plastic, and none of it gave the animals anywhere to live.

So we decided to make something else. Something better - something that delighted them, and us.

THE CRAFT

Made slow, in Jaipur

Every Looma piece is stitched by hand in a small workshop in Jaipur, India, by artisans who work with wool felt as their craft. Each piece takes time, and no two are exactly alike.

We work slowly on purpose. Quality matters above all else - we want to ship you products that can withstand rough play, be shared between siblings and passed down over time.

OUR WHY

What we care about

Plastic-free. Every animal, every mat, every stitch.

Handcrafted. Wool felting has been practised in Rajasthan for generations. Every Looma piece is made by hand using those same techniques. We care deeply about keeping the craft alive.

Open-ended. No instruction book, no right way to play. Toys that grow with your child as their imagination matures.

Safe for all ages. No small parts, no sharp edges. Built for first hands as much as for older ones.
